The secret performers for Hofstra’s Music Fest have been revealed, at least partially. Hofstra Concerts announced two of the acts via Facebook.
The two acts known to be performing at this year’s Music Fest are the rock band Magic Man and duo R. City (also known as Rock City).
The Boston native group Magic Man consists of Alex Caplow and Sam Vanderhoop Lee. Caplow, vocals, and Lee, guitar and keyboard, started the group in 2010. Their most recent album, “Before The Waves: Remixes EP,” was released in 2016. Following the release the group went on tour across North America with The Griswolds, a three-piece indie rock band from Australia.
R. City will also be performing at Music Fest this Saturday. The duo – comprised of brothers Theron “A.I.” and Timothy “Uptown AP” Thomas – hails from St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Their music is a mix of hip-hop, pop and Caribbean sounds. They are best known for their 2015 song “Locked Away,” which features Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5. Their debut album is, “What Dreams Are Made Of.”
The duo gave a shoutout to Hofstra on their Twitter account on Tuesday, writing, “Hofstra music fest in N.Y this Saturday, then Jersey on Sunday…..see y’all dis weekend!”
