Public Safety Briefs, February 18-22

On February 18, a Hofstra Administrator observed a male, Onat Allorcun, inside Weller Hall. Public Safety was called, and when questioned Allorcun had no reason for being inside the building, he was taken to the Hofstra Information Center and banned from campus.

On February 20, Public Safety received an anonymous call saying that a male was walking in the student center with blood on his hands. Public Safety responded and questioned the male, who was missing two teeth, and he said he got into a fight at an off-campus party. The male was taken to the hospital for the missing teeth.

A Resident Assistant reported that the smell of marijuana was coming from a room in Constitution Hall, on February 20. Public Safety responded and confronted the resident about the smell and the student admitted to smoking in his room, a summons was given.

Public Safety responded to a noise complaint in the Tilburg House on February 21. Public Safety found underage students drinking. Guests of the room were escorted out and the alcohol was confiscated. The resident of the room received a summons.

On February 21, a student stated that she left a small cardboard box containing $3,000 in cash on the couch in the Vander Poel Residence Hall lounge. When she returned the next day, the box was missing. The money was proceeds from a show that was produced at Monroe Theatre. A search was conducted with no results.

On February 22, Public Safety responded to the Breslin Hall parking lot and confronted a student who was using his mother's handicapped parking permit. The permit was confiscated, and the student was given a summons.

On February 22, an Axinn Library Staff Member stated that two students who occupied a study room in the library checked out of the room. When the room was inspected, books and furniture were thrown around the room. An investigation will be conducted.
