Nov. 13 Public Safety Briefs

Compiled by Gabriella CiuffetelliOn Nov. 13, a student reported to PS that he left a bag with his laptop, wallet and credit cards at student center bus stop at 5 p.m. When he came back at 6 he discovered the bag was missing. Police assistance was declined and card services was notified.

On Nov. 15, PS responded to an altercation between two students in the Stuyvesant Hall parking lot. One of the students was driving recklessly, while the other filmed without permission. The student who was driving was forcibly trying to take the other student’s phone and delete the footage. Both students were issued summonses.

On Nov. 17, a Hofstra student stated that at some time between 7 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, he left his wallet in the men’s soccer locker room in the Physical Education Center. He reported his wallet had $530 in it, and $200 was taken from it when he returned. Police assistance was declined.

On Nov. 17, an RD reported to PS that he observed alcoholic beverages and cigarette paraphernalia in a room in Orange House. PS confiscated these items and the two roommates were issued summonses.

On Nov. 18 at 3:21 p.m., an assistant RD reported to PS that while doing a health and safety inspection in Quincy House, he smelled marijuana coming from one of the rooms. PS responded and also found the strong odor of marijuana inside the room. Five Hofstra students were in the room, and while there was no marijuana recovered, all five were issued summonses.
