On Monday, the flags flew at half-staff across campus in Hempstead, while the community of Needham, Mass. recovered from burying their former football star and friend. Friends, family and faculty of Gregory W. Gatto shared the grief and bewilderment over the tragic loss of the popular 19-year- old.
A new Five Year Plan for the University strives to enhance its reputation and reshape the future faculty and student body. The numerous goals detailed in the plan are scheduled to be implemented from Sept.1, 2005 through Aug. 31, 2010.
After a two-year process, the Alumni Directory will be shipped on Dec. 10 to each alumnus who ordered it. The directories will be mailed out three months later than scheduled.

There must be something in the air in Orange County, Calif. A few rock and metal acts from the "O.C." made the most out of 2004 so far. Bands like Bleeding Through, Throwdown, Avenged Sevenfold and Eighteen Visions have made their impact in the music scene this year, but no other band except Atreyu have made the biggest impact of them all.
Outside of the EB games 10 minutes from school, a few hundred people, of all ages milled around outside of the storefront, sipping coffee, nibbling on donuts, and waiting. At 11:50 a.m., the tension was palpable inside the store, people could see the their targets: Halo 2.
Screaming in agony, blood gushing all around, and barley being able to move is certainly a nightmare, but to some people, it is reality. Sophomore guard Carlos Rivera and the Pride men's basketball team (3-0, 0-0) enjoyed a buzzer-beating victory over the Columbia University Lions last season. After Wednesday night's postponement the Lions will have to wait until February for their revenge.
The run that began in the final weeks of the regular season, normally a time when the Pride men's soccer team falters and comes up just short of the playoffs, finally ended this past week in a 4-0 defeat to No. 3 University of Maryland Terrapins at Ludwig Field in College Park, MD, in the second round of the NCAA College Cup.
Nobody asked me but I hope the title of this column has caught the administration's eye. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel week of the year. Nothing is more frustrating than struggling with your luggage. So now that the holiday is over it's abundantly clear that our "Blue Beatle" bus service is horribly inadequate.
