A packed Mack Sports Complex of 4,258 fans saw the Hofstra men's basketball team defeat Iona College 83-75 for the Pride's third straight victory. After a shaky first two months of the season, including a four game losing streak, Hofstra improves to 6-7 on the season.

With two teams ranked in the nation's top 20 in RPI, the Hofstra women's basketball team had its three game winning streak snapped by Ivy League powerhouse Princeton, 74-69 on Thursday night.

The Hofstra University men's basketball team made it two straight wins with a decisive 82-59 victory over Colgate before entering its final out of conference match-up against Iona next week.

Holding a 71-69 lead with 2.9 seconds remaining, a lay-up by Marist guard Casey Dulin as time expired was waived off by the referees as it came out of her hands just a little too late, to give the Pride its third straight victory and the New York Life Holiday Invitational championship.

The Hofstra University women's basketball team advanced to the New York Life Holiday Invitational championship game with a 67-60 win over Central Connecticut State.

JERSEY CITY, NJ-- The Hofstra University women's basketball rebounded from its first loss in a month with a 66-52 win over St. Peter's on Sunday afternoon.

There was something ominous in the eyes of senior guard Mike Moore on Saturday night.

"We have to learn how to win."

That was the message given by Hofstra men's basketball head coach Mo Cassara after the Pride's 68-59 loss to Manhattan University Saturday night at the Mack Sports Complex. The loss was Hofstra's fourth in a row, dropping its record to 3-7 on the year.

Two students reported that while standing in front of Estabrook Hall on Dec. 1, water was being poured and the empty bottles were thrown out the window. Public Safety responded to the room where the water and bottles were being thrown and issued an appearance summons to the residents of the room.

Why make the holidays a stressful time where food becomes the enemy? Eat in moderation and you won't end up binging or over-indulging on multiple occasions. Don't deny yourself great food that coma once a year; use good judgment and common sense. One day of enjoying food with family will not impede any progress, I promise.

It is the end of the semester, and the holidays have arrived! I am sure that everyone cannot wait to relax after a busy semester. Most people are likely celebrating some holiday, whether it is Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or the New Year. With so many holidays, it might be assumed that the University excludes some of them. However, I do not think that is the case; Hofstra focuses on the secular aspects of the holidays so that everyone can partake in the festivities.
