Masai’s journey at Hofstra cemented in history

Two years ago, Alex Masai was trying to make history at the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Championships. The Hofstra student was already accomplished in his time there. He had set two Hofstra program records at the Lehigh Paul Short Run College Men’s Gold 8K Race and the NCAA Northeast Region Championships. He won his second CAA Cross Country Championship that year as well. But when the lights shined the brightest, he said he was disappointed with his finish.

Masai places top 40 at NCAA Championship

Hofstra's Alex Masai concluded his collegiate cross-country career as an All-American placing in the top 40 finishers at the 2020 NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Championships on Monday, March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Masai headlines historic day for Pride at CAA cross country championships

The Hofstra Pride men's and women's cross country teams returned to the course in dominant fashion on the morning of Friday, March 5, walking away with one defending champion, two school records and four All-CAA Honors at the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Cross Country Championships in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Masai makes history winning NCAA Cross Country Regionals

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Alex Masai crossed the finish line with a smile on his face and arms in the air on Friday, Nov. 15, as he won the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross-Country Northeast Regional Championship in Buffalo, New York. The win marks the first regional title for any Hofstra runner in program history.

Senior Alex Masai transferred to Hofstra University in January 2018 and in one cross country season broke the 8K school record, became Hofstra’s first ever Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference champion and was named the CAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year. This season, he aims to be among the nation’s top 10 runners.

Flash Report: Hofstra track focuses on 4×100 at Monmouth Season Opener Invitational

36 runners represented Hofstra men’s and women’s track on Saturday, March 30, in the Pride’s second meet of the season at Monmouth University’s Season Opener Invitational at Kessler Stadium. The 16 men and 20 women did not compete in any individual track or field events and instead focused solely on the 4x100 meter relay races.
