Meredith Tarsi hopes to utilize her love of editing in the film industry.

Senior send-off: Going out in AP Style

Meredith Tarsi, Copy Chief May 5, 2026

Editing is the first thing I knew I loved. Leaving high school, I cycled through career paths like a dressing-room montage, but there was nothing that really stuck. The only thing that stayed with me through...

Senior send-off: Writing my story

Olivia Hillestad, Editor at Large May 5, 2026

I hated writing as a kid. “Free writing” or any kind of creative exercise was my nightmare. Whether it was being told to write about “my last vacation” or being left with the impossible task...

Frankie DiCologero, Editor at Large December 2, 2025

I’ve always found it hard to find my voice; however, when it came to writing, I did not just find my voice, but I also became comfortable expressing myself. From the moment I stepped on campus freshman...

The Hofstra Chronicle made my last two semesters at Hofstra University the best semesters.

Senior send-off: Leaving Room 203

Julia Capitelli, News Editor December 2, 2025

At the end of high school, I played in the pit orchestra while my friend performed in our school’s production of “Hello, Dolly!” We held a “senior psych circle” to hype ourselves up and say some...

Senior send-off: Not a goodbye

Without The Hofstra Chronicle, I would not be where I am today. If you had told my freshman self that she would become the EIC of Hofstra’s newspaper and would be publishing this in the sports section, where her photographs have regularly been in the layout, she never would have believed you.

Senior Send-off: Don’t say goodbye, it hasn’t sunk in yet

My freshman year I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with my time here at Hofstra. I wandered over to the club fair the first week of school and was immediately surrounded by what seemed like thousands of different clubs all trying to get me to join. Then, out of the blue, Felipe Fontes just appeared in front of me and said, “You want to write for sports!” Without even taking the time to consider if he meant that as a question or statement, I found myself following him to The Hofstra Chronicle’s table and signing up to join. From that moment on, I guess the rest is history.

I don’t really know how to start this, so I’m gonna do the “thank you”-s first. Thank you to all the incredibly talented editors I’ve worked with in my time on the Chronicle’s executive board. I know being an editor can feel like a thankless job at times; so to everyone from news, features, opinion, arts & entertainment, copy, multimedia and social, I want you to know that I appreciate you, and your dedication and work ethic has not gone unnoticed.
