Megan Moroney reaches for the sky in ‘Cloud 9’

Abby Gibson, Arts & Entertainment Editor February 25, 2026
Pink clouds, dreamy guitar strums and relationship insecurities are all at play in Megan Moroney’s third studio album, “Cloud 9,” which released on Friday, Feb. 20. Across 15 tracks, this country pop singer created an album that leans into her self-appointed “emo cowgirl” persona, delivering a project that feels cohesive and captures the ups and downs of a relationship. With strong production and vulnerable lyrics, “Cloud 9” shows growth in Moroney’s songwriting and sound.

The best albums of 2025

Josh Gordon, Staff Writer December 3, 2025
The year of 2025 has been amazing for music, with many artists challenging themselves to further their creativity and the quality of their music. I’ve listened to about 45 albums this year. All of them are unique in their own way, but there are always standouts. These are my top five albums of 2025.

The return of the boyband that never left

Samantha Cotes, Special To The Chronicle November 25, 2025
As 5 Seconds of Summer’s self-proclaimed #1 fan, I’ve followed them through every reinvention, but their latest album – “EVERYONE’S A STAR!” – marks one of their most striking shifts yet. Since their 2012 debut as scrappy pop-punk newcomers, the band has experimented with countless sounds, with each era pushing them further from where they started. Now, with years of experience behind them, they’ve crafted an album that feels purposeful – one that shows not just who they’ve become, but what they want their listeners to understand and feel.

Hayley Williams continues her solo career

Ethan Poole, Sports Editor November 12, 2025
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams’ new album, “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party,” is an album with a lot to say. It masterfully balances scathing political commentary, feelings of intense nostalgia, navigating through a (rumored) breakup and the impact of all these things on Williams’ mental health.

‘Short n’ Sweet’- an album that’s exactly that

Aidan Judge, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR September 10, 2024

It has been quite the year for former Disney Channel star Sabrina Carpenter. In late 2023 and early 2024, Carpenter opened for sections of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” in Latin America and Asia. This earned her a career boost that would push her popularity to heights beyond the expectations of the music executives representing her. Since Carpenter’s rapid popularity growth, three of her singles have reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, with “Please Please Please” snatching the No. 1 spot back in June. Most impressively, “Short n’ Sweet” earned over 350,000 sales units in its first week of release, nearly 20 times the individual sales of her 2022 album “emails i can’t send.” “Short n’ Sweet” is an all-around victory for Carpenter – and the compressed and consistent quality of the album makes it deserving of every unit sold.
