‘Maybe Happy Ending’ is proof love knows no bounds

Grace Luty, Staff Writer December 10, 2024
Can a robot fall in love? It couldn’t truly be possible, right? “Maybe Happy Ending” suggests otherwise. The musical recently hit the Broadway scene on Nov. 12, at the Belasco Theater in New York City, New York. It stars “Glee” cast member Darren Criss as a Helperbot named Oliver and Broadway actress Helen J. Shen as a Helperbot named Claire.

A new age of Shakespeare

Paige Sanacora, Staff Writer October 16, 2024
A brand-new adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet” has come to Broadway, this time truly centered around the youth of the play’s characters. Make no mistake, the dialogue is still entirely Shakespearean, but every other aspect of the play is covered in a Generation Z inspired sparkle.

‘Wicked’ the musical defies all expectations

Alyssa Inserra, Staff Writer October 16, 2024
It was not just Elphaba (Mary Kate Morrissey) who was “Defying Gravity” at the Gershwin Theater as every high belt from Morrissey sent me levitating from my seat. For over 20 years, “Wicked” has left audiences spellbound. Witnessing the rise and fall of Elphaba and her journey to becoming the Wicked Witch of the West reminds viewers to never judge a book by its cover. I was lucky enough to experience the magic of Oz with two of my best friends, and I can safely say I walked away with memories that will last a lifetime.

The future of the entertainment industry after COVID-19

Movie theaters, Broadway theaters and concert venues all lie dormant as they wait for COVID-19 to end and for their patrons to return. Since entering this period of isolation more than a month ago, which most expect will last well into the summer, the entertainment industry has had to adapt from its traditional methods of engaging with its audience and pushing content into the digital world.
