Singer-songwriter Mitskis new album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, is a sweeping, lush experience that clocks in at just over 30 minutes. Released on Friday, Sept. 15, the album is Mitskis seventh and continues to exemplify her remarkable lyricism and skill for transporting listeners to an entirely new world.

Hofstra Concerts annual Music Fest, held last Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., featured rides and performances from headliners PVRIS, Kirk Knight and Cruisr, with opening acts by Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties and The Last Great Kings. 

With a dance floor packed with jumping fans and the brassy sound of trumpets filling the air, Georgia-native band Nana Grizol brought folk punk magic to Greenpoints Brooklyn Bazaar on Monday night.
