Indie pop and the odd man out: Music Fest 2018

Hofstra Concerts’ annual Music Fest, held last Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., featured rides and performances from headliners PVRIS, Kirk Knight and Cruisr, with opening acts by Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties and The Last Great Kings.

Father John Misty mystifies with new tracks

Two new singles emerged Tuesday from the ambiguous and satirical Joshua Tillman, who performs under the moniker Father John Misty. The indie-folk musician returned to the alternative scene two months after the folk-pop track “Mr. Tillman” was made public. He announced the release of his new album, “God’s Favorite Customer,” the follow-up to his 2017 Grammy winner “Pure Comedy.”
