Jacco Fritz announces commitment to Hofstra basketball

The Hofstra Pride men’s basketball team continues to bolster their roster through the transfer portal, as former Canisius College forward Jacco Fritz announced his commitment to the Pride on Sunday via his personal Instagram and Twitter pages. Fritz averaged eight points, six rebounds and three assists per game in his senior season with the Golden Griffins and will use his additional year of eligibility granted by the COVID-19 pandemic to play at Hofstra. Hailing from Tiel, the Netherlands, Fritz is the second international recruit to sign with Hofstra this offseason, after the Pride acquired Irish center Silas Sunday last week.

The Pride narrowly escaped Island Federal Credit Union Arena with a 68-65 victory, surviving a cold shooting performance and turnover-filled first half to earn their tenth consecutive victory. The Pride improved their record to 22-8 with the win, including a 15-2 mark in CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) play.
