Opening night for Hofstra University’s drama department’s production of “Lend Me A Soprano,” an adaptation of “Lend Me A Tenor,” had the audience belly laughing for nearly the entire performance. This 1930’s farce invited viewers to forget their day-to-day lives and settle in for a rollercoaster of a performance. This slapstick comedy did not hold back, nor did the actors.
This spring, the opening play to the Hofstra drama department’s 2023 season will be “Woyzeck.” “Woyzeck” is written by Georg Büchner and directed by Royston Coppenger. The show is a classic tale of a young soldier who is sacrificed to powers larger than himself.
“American Son” is one of the latest original films from streaming giant Netflix. Starring Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale, the film follows a hysterical African American mother trying to find her missing son.
Every woman is heard and embraced in Sarah Jones’ solo play “Sell/Buy/Date.” In this reenactment of a futuristic classroom, Jones presents a series of stories, delivered in monologues based on real life women today.
Students, faculty and members of the community gathered in The Helene Fortunoff Theater in the Monroe Lecture Hall on Thursday night to watch a performance of the spoken-word play “The Soap Myth.”
