This year, Super Bowl LIII will include the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams squaring off in a Super Bowl XXXVI rematch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This is the Rams’ fourth Super Bowl appearance and the Patriots’ 11th, nine of which have come in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.
This past Super Bowl was an incredibly strange one for me. As someone who was raised with American football being blasted on television in the suburban Texas Gulf Coast, and her mother hollering at the television when her team made a horrendous play, I felt like I was betraying my upbringing by simply not caring who won. Even stranger, not even the Super Bowl commercials appealed to me. Well, none of them except the commercials that mentioned Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in passing. This is why whenever natural disaster strikes, we should focus on the mental well-being of others as well as their physical needs.
Super Bowl Sunday is finally here, and this year's game will feature Tom Brady and the New England Patriots taking on the upstart Philadelphia Eagles, led by backup quarterback Nick Foles. We here at the Chronicle have complied our very own predictions for who will be raising the Lombardi Trophy come Sunday.
Nick Foles’ improbable journey to Super Bowl 52 began back in 2012 when he was selected 88th overall in the NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was given an opportunity to play when Michael Vick went down with an injury in Week 10 of the 2012 season. It was a shaky final six games for Foles and he was relegated back to the bench the following season.
