‘The Office’ universe adds on ‘The Paper’

One of the most legendary television shows in history is “The Office” – the workplace mockumentary that lasted nine seasons and developed a cult following. When it was announced that a spinoff was in the works, fans were eager to see how the next chapter in “The Office” universe was going to unfold.

When confronted with the success of “The Office,” NBC looked to develop a show that built upon its comedic and stylistic foundations. Thus came “Parks and Recreation,” which emulated “The Office” in its mockumentary style; large cast; standalone, quotable cold opens; and general atmosphere and comedic feel.
