The highlight of any Broadway season is the annual Tony Awards. Held at Radio City Music Hall and hosted by a different entertainment icon every year, the Tony Awards allow the theater community to come together and celebrate the shows, actors and actresses that have worked countless hours in order to bring their visions to life.

The nominees are in: The 73rd Annual Tony Awards

Nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards were announced on Tuesday, April 30. This Broadway season has been dominated by musicals based on movies, books and iconic musicians. Despite concerns about theatre (namely musicals) becoming too commercialized, 21 of the 34 Tony-eligible shows this season were plays and only 13 were musicals.
