It has been roughly one year since indie rockers The Postal Service received a cease-and-desist warning from the United States Postal Service in reference to their obvious play on the trademarked name. But as Pitchfork Media reports, the two sides have finally come to an even, but strangely unique agreement.
The Postal Service have managed somehow to avoid a lawsuit. Instead coercing the real USPS into a plan that would have both parties linked in promotion of one another. No, this doesn’t mean you’ll catch The Postal Service’s Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello in those oh-so-attractive blue duds anytime soon, but there will be some creative marketing techniques employed by both parties in near future.
