The good: The Pride put up 484 yards of total offense and quarterback Brian Savage passed for a career high 301 yards and had four touchdowns. The bad: The Pride committed four turnovers which led to 14 points for the Rams.
Running back Kareem Huggins had 147 yards on the ground and one score and wide out Charles Sullivan had 92 yards receiving and two scores.
OFFENSE: B
The defense gave up 24 points in the first half, some of which was because of offensive mistakes that put the Rams in good field position. The Pride did get it together in the second half shutting out the Ram offense, which let the offensive come back and win the game. The Pride defense did force two fumbles.
DEFENSE: B+
The only blemish on the special teams was a missed extra point by kicker Rob Zarilli. He did connect on all the other PATs and a 45-yard field goal late in the game. Newcomer Anthony Nelson returned a punt 77 yards to the Ram’s 4 yard line that set up an easy Pride touchdown.
SPECIAL TEAMS: A-
Head coach Dave Cohen’s team came out of the gate sluggish and didn’t seem focused. That all changed in the second half as they outscored the Rams 30-0, including a 27-point third quarter. Cohen has his team 3-0 for the first time since 1999.
