After a slow start in the first half, the Pride offense picked it up in the second half with 275 yards of total offense. The offense gained 410 yards overall, for their first 400-yard game since 2005. Quarterback Brian Savage had a more than successful college debut, passing for 285 yards and one touchdown with no turnovers. Running back Kareem Huggins had a good day with 116 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Wide out Charles Sullivan also added 12 receptions for 147 yards and one touchdown.OFFENSE: A
The defense shut out the Paladins in the second half, and held their high powered rushing attack to a mere 85 yards. They did give up 17 first half points, but that was mostly due to an inept offense unable to give the defense any rest. Linebacker Gian Villante had a banner day with four solo tackles and 12 stops all together. Villante also had two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.DEFENSE: A+
Kicker Rob Zarilli tied a career long with a 52 yard field goal, to go along with three other scores and two PATs, giving him 14 points for the game. Zarilli did however miss two field goals, but they ended up not mattering much in the final outcome. The Pride return men only gained 20 yards.SPECIAL TEAMS: B+
Head Coach Dave Cohen did a spectacular job getting his team ready for this game. The odds were stacked against them. Hofstra had not defeated a top ten opponent since 2005, and had ended last season losing their last seven games. The half time adjustments made were key to Pride outscoring the Paladins 23-0 in the second half.COACHING: A+
