Virginia Commonwealth (20-4) (12-1): The Rams finally lost their first conference game this week at the hands of Hofstra. VCU faced a determined Hofstra team who led throughout. The Rams got within one point with 9:04 to go in the game but could never over take the Pride. VCU had their 10 game winning streak snapped in 79-68 loss. The Rams were able to rebound from their first conference loss by pounding Georgia State 100-71. The Rams came roaring out of the gate hitting 16 of their first 20 shots in route to a 39 -14 first half lead.
Hofstra (18-6) (11-2): After a surprising and upsetting loss to lowly Delaware, Hofstra bounced back with strong efforts against VCU and Northeastern. Antoine Agudio dominated the game against VCU scoring 30 points. Hofstra moved within in a game of first place VCU. In their second game of the week Hofstra handed Northeastern its 15th straight loss on the road in the 82-66 route. Carlos Rivera and Loren Stokes both scored 21 in the victory.
Old Dominion (17-7) (10-3): Arnaud Dahi dominated his competition leading his team to an undefeated week. The Monarchs took care of conference rivals Drexel 62-52 and George Mason 66-56. Dahi averaged 14.5 points and 13 rebounds as the Monarchs extended their winning streak to 5.
Drexel(17-6) (9-4): The Dragons were slowed by poor shooting in their 62-52 loss to ODU. Drexel finished shooting an abysmal 27 percent from the field. Bruiser Flint got his 100th career victory when the Dragons played their second game of the week. Frank Elegar scored 21 points in the 66-56 victory over Towson.
George Mason (13-10) (7-6): The Patriots find themselves in fourth place after an up and down week. George Mason started the week off great by spanking Delaware 89-59. Coming off their victory the Patriots played tough once again taking ODU into overtime. In the end George Mason were tired out being outscored 20-7 in the extra session.
Towson (12-12) (6-7): Gary Neal scored 23 points and added six rebounds but his team had their two game win streak snapped. The Drexel Dragons proved to be too much for the Tigers outlasting them 66-56. With 4:24 remaining The Tigers trailed 57-56 but failed to score another basket the rest of the contest.
William & Mary (12-11) (5-8): The Tribe shot just 37 percent and allowed UNC Wilmington to shoot 57.1 percent including 74 percent in the first half in their 6 point loss. Adam Payton was solid once again scoring 24 points and converting on 2 of 3 of his three point shots
Northeastern (7-17) (5-8): Manny Adako’s game opening basket gave Northeastern its only lead of the game at Hofstra, extended their loosing streak to 3 games. If there is anything positive to take from this disappointing season is that 5 of the 7 Huskies wins have come in the conference.
Georgia State (8-15) (4-9): The Panthers moved into a tie with James Madison after a one and one week. To start off the week Georgia State snapped a long loosing streak. The Panthers defense proved strong holding UNC Wilimington to just under than 33 percent shooting. Lance Perique scored 19 leading his team to a 72-60 win. The Panthers were put in their place when they got walloped by a score of 100-79 at the hands of VCU. The Panthers never lead and couldn’t get any closer then 15
James Madison(7-16) (4-9): After a scare from Delaware, the Dukes prevailed to win 69-64. James Madison saw an 18 point lead squandered only to hold on to snap their four game loosing streak. Terrance Carter was superb in the win posting 28 points 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
UNC Wilmington (6-16) (3-10): UNC Wilimington continued their disappointing season with another up and down week. To begin the week the Seahawks shot just 25 percent from three point land foiling their plans to beat Georgia State. In the loss Vladimir Kuljanin scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Vladimir Kuljanin once again lead the way again but this time lead his team to an 67-61 victory over William and Mary.
Delaware (4-20) (2-11): after an upset win against Hofstra, the Blue Hens got their doors blown off against George Mason 89-59. Delaware was outscored 42-22 in the paint. Delaware played tough in their second game of the week against James Madison. Deleware seemed to be down and out trailing by as many as 18 in the first half but the Hens went on a 20 10 run to close the gap. In the end the Fighting Blue Hens came up just 5 points short 69-64.
