No matter the level of football, teams who can rush the ball win football games. Hofstra’s ground attack led the way on Saturday, as they cruised by Bucknell 45-31. In a game that was essential to the Pride’s playoff hopes, true freshmen Brock Jackolski gained 170 yards on the ground and tallied 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Cory Christopher also contributed to the ground game, rushing for two touchdowns and 54 yards.
Jackolski, has now rushed for 374 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season and is tied for most touchdowns on the team with Christopher.
The Pride finished the contest with a total of 319 yards on the ground. It is the first time Hofstra has had 300 yards since 2002, when they gained 370 yards against Liberty.
Ths is a drastic change for the Pride, who have been out-rushed by opponents by 139 yards this season.
The Pride continue their CAA schedule next week at the University of Maine (3-3, 1-2 CAA). Maine is coming off a big upset of CAA foe Delaware. The game, which will take place at Alfond Stadium, will have major implications on the Pride’s chances for a postseason birth.
