HOME SWEET HOME
Over the past 10-plus seasons, the Pride volleyball team has compiled a record of 124-32 (.795) at home. The team has two undefeated home seasons at home since becoming an NCAA Division I program in 1982, winning every match at home during the 1988 and 1989 seasons. The Pride has a chance to do the same this season, if it wins its final two matches of the season against Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University.
THREE CHEERS FOR REVENGE
The Pride was eager to get even against the University of Delaware, the team that gave them its first conference loss. The Pride followed Delaware’s lead and swept its conference rivals in three close games (30-21, 30-26, 30-24). The two teams could eventually meet again in the conference tournament. The Pride and Blue Hens currently are in second and third place in the conference, respectively.
PRIDE VS. THE CAA
The recent win over Delaware was the Pride’s 100th against teams currently in the CAA. The team is 101-33 (.754 winning percentage) all-time against conference opponents, including at least 30 wins against longtime rivals Delaware and Towson.
If Drexel University, which dropped volleyball following the 2002 season, is included on the list, then the overall total would increase to 130-38 (.774) as a result of the Pride’s 29-4 record vs. the Dragons.
The College of William & Mary is the only team in the CAA that the Pride doesn’t have a winning record against, as the loss on Friday dropped the team to 8-11 all time against the Tribe.
SENIOR DAY
On Nov. 6, the final regular season home match of the season, the Pride will honor seniors Nicole Smith and Julie Tatar for Senior Day. Smith and Tatar have played integral roles in the team’s successes this season, as Tatar has had her best year of the Pride and Smith has helped with her consistent play and great leadership.
