Purses, clutches, satchels… no matter the size, texture, or color, all handbags have the power to define one’s outfit. Whether you’re looking to make a professional statement or just catch someone’s eye, the perfect bag can do the trick. Here are some of my favorites of the season that won’t require you to drop more than two Franklins:
Their clothing is high quality with a touch of unique flair, and their bags are no different. Anthropologie’s charming collection of bags includes femme pieces with fringes, extra fabric, and ruffles. A favorite is the “Clouded Moon Bag” whose smoky grey leather exterior is easily matched. The bag has six pockets altogether, which makes it simple to stash your lip-gloss or cell phone on the go. Plus, the rolling ruffles will add pizzazz to any ensemble.
Terrycloth, velour… Juicy Couture knows how to properly incorporate these fabrics no matter the season! Take a walk on the wild side with their cheetah print “Daydreamer” tote. The bag has the logo lightly embroidered on the front so as to not take away from the adorable oversized black bow on the right side. ($198, Nordstrom.com).
Get caught in this season’s “it” color, purple, with the “Totally Turnlock Derby Mini” by Marc Jacobs. The adored designer crafted a leather crossbody bag with adjustable straps to easily switch up your look each time you wear it. The bag has a golden logo-embossed turnlock on the front, which looks great with a hint of gold accessories or shoes. ($178, Nordstrom.com).
Just like her music, Gwen Stefani’s “L.A.M.B.” line is composed entirely of unique, memorable pieces. Her signature flap-clutch wallet has a funky black and white print that will certainly draw attention. The clutch is also convenient, as it holds eight cards and has interior zip and currency pockets.
For the more classic bag, Dooney and Burke’s “Tartan Betty” canvas bag comes in dark blue and green or a rich red plaid exterior. The canvas is trimmed with winter’s best fabrics, leather and suede, and is roomy with interior pockets. The label-lover will also admire the golden signature logo tag that dangles off of one strap. ($125, Nordstrom.com
The perfect schoolbag has to be Lucky’s ‘Ramblin’ Rose Stash’ suede bag. In a beautiful smoky gray suede, the bag has two flap-patch pockets and a zip pocket that curves. Its size will be sure to fit your smaller literature books, pens and pencils, and agenda. Just be sure to purchase a leather and suede protector to spray before wear!
