On September 30th the Hofstra Chronicle published an article on college-based gossip sites that exist for no other reason than to allow anonymous bullies to mock, vilify, and harm other students. While I applaud the Chronicle for taking up an important topic, especially in light of recent public attention to cyber bullying, I question the writer’s and editor’s decision to publish the name of a Hofstra student who was identified on the site. Adding insult to injury, this poor editorial decision brought nothing to the story, while victimizing the student yet again. What were you thinking?
