DO:
When partying at Hofstra it’s important to remember to be safe, especially when considering the recent robberies in the area. Going out to the nearby clubs or a friend’s house party, may pose certain risks. It’s always a good idea to walk in large groups, even on Hempstead TPKE, because you are less likely to be approached by someone looking to rob you. It’s also important to always remember to use a designated driver or a taxi service if you’re going to be partying far from home. The safety of you and your friends should be your number one concern.
The clubs around here can get pretty expensive, so it’s a good idea to pregame a little to save some money. Keep an eye out for Facebook events or pages advertising discounted prices or special events at the local clubs as well. This can save you a bunch of cash. If you’re going out looking for a house party, try and find one without a cover charge or you can bring your own cups to the party
DON’T:
The number one mistake of partying is partying too hard. You should never become a burden to those you’re out with, even if they’re close friends. It’s important to know your limits. Getting sick at someone else’s place can be a pretty embarrassing situation to find yourself in. Partying too hard can lead to doing something you’ll regret later or even just something you wouldn’t normally do. Everyone has those mornings when you think back on the previous night and regret sending that text or eating that Popeyes’.
Another big “don’t” that can happen when you are partying hard is hooking up with someone you don’t know. This can result in a variety of pitfalls such as an STD, but that’s the least of your troubles. If you’re seeing someone else, chances are they won’t be too thrilled with you the next day. Another risk of the random hook up is if the other person is extra clingy or below your level of attractiveness.
Overall a good rule of thumb is to party, and you can party hard, but don’t party so hard that you land yourself in the hospital.
