1. Georgia State University: 1-1 (1-0)
After starting the 2005-06 season with a 99-72 victory over conference foe Delaware, the Panthers fell back to 1-1 after losing to Charlotte, 73-68. Senior guard Malcolm Manier leads the team with 18 points per game (PPG) and has a .571 shooting percentage from downtown.
2. University of North Carolina Wilmington: 5-1 (0-0)
The Seahawks have started this season on a tear, winning five of the first six games. The most recent victory came against Elon University, 59-51, as UNCW held Elon to only 14 first half points. The Seahawks will play their first conference game when they travel to William & Mary this week.
3. Old Dominion University: 3-1 (0-0)
After participating in last season’s NCAA tournament, Old Dominion University (ODU) has gotten off to an impressive start again. The Monarchs have won three of their first four contests and play two of their next three games at home. Arnaud Dahi and Alex Loughton lead the team with 15 PPG.
4. College of William & Mary: 3-1 (0-0)
Freshman Calvin Baker has been a very big addition to this season’s William & Mary team. The young 6-foot-2 guard is averaging 20 PPG along with 4.3 rebounds. Baker put up 28 points in the Tribe’s latest win, a 93-79 over Campbell.
5. Drexel University: 3-3 (0-0)
With an undefeated record after its first three games, Drexel has dropped its last three contests to fall back to .500. The Dragons have four players averaging double digits scoring, including center Frank Elegar who averaged only 1.4 PPG last season.
6. George Mason University: 2-2 (0-0)
With a 72-66 win over Manhattan, George Mason is still right in the thick of things in the CAA. Tony Skinn leads the Patriots with 16 ppg, while forward Jai Lewis has racked up 11.5 boards per game.
7. James Madison University: 1-1 (0-0)
After falling to Geogetown, 73-66, in its first game, James Madison put up 74 in a 13-point win over VMI. The Dukes’ well-spread offense is lead by their sixth man, Cavell Johnson, averaging 12.5 points and nine rebounds per game.
8. Towson University: 1-1 (0-0)
The Towson Tigers sit in a four-way tie at 1-1 after defeating MD-Baltimore County, 60-55, on Nov. 22. Senior forward Lawrence Hamm leads the team with 20 PPG and will have an opportunity to add to his statistics when the Tigers next face winless Morgan State.
9. Virginia Commonwealth: 1-1 (0-0)
Trailing 33-22 at halftime against Houston last Saturday, VCU came back to win, 62-61. Nick George, who scored 16 points and leads the team with 15 PPG, aided the first win of the season. The Rams look to have a winning record for the first time this season when they host Elon on Nov. 30.
10. University of Delaware: 2-3 (0-1)
After starting this season 2-0, Delaware has dropped its last three games by an average of 19.6 points.
