Public Safety received a phone call from the Student Center on March 30 regarding four drunk and disorderly males who attended the Home Depot Expo. William McKenna, 48, of Syossett, N.Y., Michael Schmidt, 46, of Bethpage, N.Y. and Clint Lampitok, 21, were all apprehended and banned from campus.
A Residential Life Administrator reported that during a safety inspection on March 31 in Twin Oaks she was verbally harassed by a resident student.
A University student in New York house was issued an appearance summons after surrendering a box containing a pipe and marijuana residue on March 31.
A health inspector reported that drug paraphernalia was found in open view in a Twin Oaks room on April 1. There was also an unidentified male in the room who refused to present identification. While fleeing the room he dropped his wallet containing an I.D. card. The drug paraphernalia was confiscated and an appearance summons was issued to the two University students.
A health and safety inspector reported that a paintball gun was found in open view in Twin Oaks on April 1. The gun was confiscated and the University student was issued an appearance summons.
Non-student Owen Corso, 24, of Franklin Lakes, N.J. was banned from campus for trespassing during a lacrosse game at James Shuart Stadium on April1.
A University student residing in Twin Oaks reported $120 missing from her closet, along with candles that were confiscated by Residential Life after receiving a summons for violating room regulations on April 2. She declined to file a police report.
A University student residing in Twin Oaks reported that when he returned from spring break he discovered his food and clothes ruined due to a fire that occurred in the building. It was later discovered he had unplugged his refrigerator causing the food to spoil.
A University student reported on April. 4 that his 2001 Toyota Celica was stolen from campus sometime between April. 1 and April 4. The Nassau County Police Department was notified and the investigation is still in progress.
A University student residing in Estabrook Hall reported that her ex-boyfriend, non-student Kelvin Bynom, harassed her outside her room on April 3. When she attempted to call Public Safety he grabbed her cell phone and later fled the scene before
Public Safety arrived. n A University student was issued an appearance summons after a health and safety inspector reported finding a bottle of alcohol and a glass pipe in Twin Oaks on April 4. n A female University student reported that another female student was making harassing phone calls to her cell phone on April 4. The accused female was issued an appearance summons for aggravated harassment.
A University student was issued an appearance summons on April 4 for dousing a trash fire caused by cigarettes with water triggering the fire alarm. Upon searching the student’s room a marijuana grinder and rolling papers were found in open view.
A dispute between several female students regarding I.D. cards was reported on April 5. A total of 14 summonses were issued to those involved and the matter was referred to the dean of students.
A University administrator reported her Coach purse was stolen from her desk in Philips Hall on April 5. When she checked her credit card status online, she discovered that $1,000 had been charged. The Hempstead Police Department was called and there is still a pending investigation.
A Public Safety officer reported that while he was serving an appearance summons to a resident in Twin Oaks on April 5, he discovered a marijuana grinder, pipe and a small amount of marijuana. The paraphernalia was confiscated and the two residents were issued appearance summonses. The marijuana was given to the Hempstead Police Department.
A University student reported hearing loud thumping sounds outside of McEwen Hall while he was working on April 5 and discovered that a window had been broken. Public Safety was called to the scene, but could not find a suspect.
A Public Safety officer observed a vehicle driving at an excessive speed on April 6. The officer followed the vehicle and stopped the driver in front of Suffolk Hall. The driver, described as uncooperative and incoherent, proceeded to urinate in front of the building in the presence of the officer. Nassau County police were called and officers identified the male as a University student. The student was issued an appearance summons and after he was brought back to his residence by Public Safety he exited his building, got back into his vehicle and drove off campus. He was observed by Nassau County Police driving at an excessive speed and was arrested for DWI.
Previously banned non-student Christopher Burke of Medford, N.Y., was found trying to use false identification while attempting to enter campus on April 6. The Nassau County Police Department was notified, but the individual was not arrested. A female student, who Burke was visiting, was issued an appearance summons for the actions of her guest.
A resident assistant reported that he found two residents in Republic Hall setting off firecrackers on April 6. The students were issued appearance summonses.
