The Pride’s four-game winning streak ended Friday with a 1-0 overtime loss to Virginia Commonwealth University. The Pride was unable to form a strong offensive front, and was out-shot 23-7. By the end of regulation, the game was scoreless, forcing the game into overtime. The game-winner came just 2:30 into the first overtime period off of a 25-yard shot from VCU midfielder Bridgit Cooley.
Despite great efforts from senior goalie Becky Wachsberger (13 saves), the Pride took its first loss in two weeks, and slipped to 6-3-1. The Pride plays the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Sunday.
