HOME COOKING: With the win over Saint Peter’s, the Pride improved to 5-0 this season at home. During this streak, it has taken 14 of 15 games from opponents with the only loss being a 30-32 defeat against Iona College back on September 7. The home streak will be tested though, with the final seven home matches being against CAA rivals, the first of which will be on Oct. 1 vs. UNC-Wilmington.
UNDEFEATED FEVERThe Pride improved to 8-0 all time against Saint Peter’s after the win on Tuesday. However, this is not the best undefeated record that the Pride has against a single opponent. They are 10-0 against Bucknell, Lehigh, and Vermont, 12-0 vs. Farleigh Dickinson, 15-0 against Rider, and an unbelievable 18-0 when it plays the University of Hartford.
ACES HIGHIn a 3-0 win over Sacred Heart on September 14, the Pride served up a season-high 17 aces, including nine by Curley. It then followed this up by notching 12 in another 3-0 win, this time over Binghamton.
NEW YORK, NEW YORKThe Pride’s wins over Columbia and Binghamton this past week improved the team’s all-time overall record to an astonishing 65-15 against teams located in the state of New York.
WASHED OUTThanks to the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, the Leopards Tri-Match Tournament in Easton, PA was cancelled last weekend, canceling scheduled matches against host Lafayette and Coppin State. The tournament will not be made up. Had they played, it would have been the third tournament of the year so far for the Pride. The team went 2-2 in the USF Asics Challenge in San Francisco, CA and 0-3 in the Kentucky Conference Challenge, played at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
