Dear Chronicle:Just read an account of Hofstra students booing E.L. Doctorow during his speech at the 2004 commencement because of his comments critical of the Bush administration.
What a sad state of affairs! I can only conclude that Hofstra graduates feel that Bush’s policies, which have been proven to be rife with lies and distortions and corruption and have virtually destroyed the reputation of the USA around the world, are upstanding and praiseworthy.
Don’t they teach critical thinking in your school? Is graduation such a special day for Hofstra seniors that they just can’t bear hearing anything negative? Wake up, kiddies, and look at–really look at– the state of your government and the world.
Yours truly,
