The Hofstra University men’s basketball team suffered their first major blow of the offseason, as Darlinstone “Dstone” Dubar entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, March 18. Dubar originally started his collegiate career at Iowa State University before coming to Hempstead.
The Charlotte, North Carolina, native improved in nearly every category this season, going from 10.3 to 17.8 points per game, upping his rebounds to two more per contest and recording one steal as well.
Dubar’s height mixed with his physicality and athleticism proved to be difficult for any Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) opponent, crashing the glass and, nine times out of ten, playing with the most energy on the court.
Consistency was the name of his game this season, as he scored in double figures in all but two matchups. He recorded eight double-doubles, including a 23-point, 11-rebound performance in the CAA tournament quarterfinals.
Hofstra will now have another roster spot to fill on top of the graduate departures of Jacco Fritz, Bryce Washington and CAA Player of the Year Tyler Thomas.
