Aaron Estrada of the Hofstra men’s basketball team announced on Tuesday that he is entering the transfer portal.
Estrada has spent the last two years with the Pride, during which he quickly became one of the most decorated and impactful players in the program’s history. A two-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and twice named to the all-conference first team, Estrada surpassed more than 1,000 career points while in Hempstead.
“These past two years with the Pride have been nothing but great times and very exciting for me and my family,” Estrada said in a statement. “The experience here at Hofstra has been like no other and will forever be within me and carried on throughout my journey.”

Estrada joined the Pride in 2021 as a transfer from the University of Oregon. Since then, Hofstra has had a resurgence as one of the nation’s fastest-rising mid-major programs with a combined record of 46-21. This past season, the Pride made its first appearance in a national postseason tournament since 2001, upsetting Rutgers University in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament before being eliminated by the University of Cincinnati.
After being eliminated from the CAA tournament on March 6, Estrada expressed that he did not know what his future looked like at the time. One month later, we at least know that Hofstra likely won’t be in it and that many teams from around the country will be vying to make him a part of theirs.
