Now that the Hofstra men’s basketball season is officially over, we have learned of the first member of the Pride entering the transfer portal as redshirt freshman Amar’e Marshall announced on Monday that he is entering the portal via a post on his personal Instagram account.
Marshall won three straight Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week awards early this season and had a breakout performance scoring 24 points in an 85-66 Hofstra loss at Purdue on Dec. 7. However, Marshall received limited playing time as the season wore on behind more veteran wing players in Hofstra’s rotation. Marshall averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and one assist per game in 2022-23 and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Hofstra was already losing centers Warren Williams and Nelson Boachie-Yiadom, as both finished out their collegiate careers this season, and will now have at least three roster spots to fill heading into next season.
