It was announced Tuesday morning that the Hofstra athletics department has reached a multi-year partnership with MSG Networks to broadcast select Hofstra sporting events across the tri-state area.
According to a source, the deal with MSG will not affect the Colonial Athletic Association’s partnership with the online streaming platform FloSports, or the conference’s contract with CBS Sports Network to nationally televise select men’s and women’s basketball games. Both of those deals were extended earlier this year.
“What an incredible day and announcement for the Hofstra community and our athletic programs,” said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. “This partnership with MSG Networks is a game changer for our teams, and I know our fan base is excited about this new opportunity to follow and watch our incredible student-athletes, coaches, and teams. I am so thankful to our friends at MSG Networks and those within our athletic department and at the University that worked so hard to make this come to fruition.”
“We are excited to welcome Hofstra University to the MSG Networks family and for the opportunity to showcase Pride athletics across our networks,” said the Vice President of Content Distribution for MSG Networks Armando Polanco. “We are looking forward to connecting with the passionate Hofstra community and tapping into the captive audience of college sports fans while bolstering the network’s collegiate programming throughout the year.”
The first Hofstra game to be broadcasted on MSG will be Friday’s women’s basketball game against Drexel University at 7 pm before the network carries Saturday’s men’s basketball regular season finale against Northeastern University at 2 pm. In addition to basketball, other Hofstra fall, winter and spring sports will be shown on the network and its online streaming platform, MSG Go.
