Former Hofstra baseball standout Matt Reistetter was recently promoted to the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Hitting two home runs at the Class-A advanced level in 41 games over three seasons, Reistetter made a quick jump to Triple-A after logging just one game this season in Double-A.
For his professional career, Reistetter has totaled six round-trippers, 15 doubles and five triples.
In his tenure at Hofstra, the Hauppauge native clipped a .296 batting average in three years with the Pride from 2011-13.
He added to the Hofstra offense, totaling 21 doubles and 66 runs batted in.
The catcher led the Pride in 2013 with a .326 average in 47 games, contributing 34 RBIs with 58 hits, 13 going for extra bases.
His excellent season paved the way to signing a free-agent contract with Washington, becoming one of the 19 players from Hofstra playing affiliated baseball, according to baseball-reference.com.
Reistetter was also a part of one of the all-time greatest Hofstra teams in 2012, amounting 20 wins in conference play and 34 overall.
That season, he helped with 19 runs driven in, five stolen bases and 39 hits in 41 starts.
For the Chiefs, Reistetter has logged just one at-bat to date.
