AWARDS & MILESTONES
The Pride swept the conference awards for the second consecutive week as senior outside hitter Julie Tatar earned CAA Player of the Week and freshman setter Shellane Ogoshi won her second consecutive Rookie of the Week award. Tatar had the best week of her career, tallying a combined 35 kills and 25 digs while hitting at a fabulous .462 clip in wins over Towson University and George Mason University. Meanwhile, Ogoshi continued her consistent play by averaging 12.3 assists and 2.6 digs per game.
Also, a week after being named the CAA Player of the Week, junior outside hitter Tessa Sphar reached a career milestone, notching her 1,000th kill in a 3-2 win over George Mason. Sphar became just the tenth member of the 1,000 kills club at the University when her seventh kill of the match gave her the impressive milestone. Sphar’s career total now stands at 1,009 in her three seasons with the Pride.
DID YOU KNOW?
That the Pride is the last team in the nation to have a .400 hitting percentage as a team over the course of an entire season since the NCAA began compiling volleyball statistics in 1981. The Pride accomplished the feat in 1983 when it hit an unprecedented .406 percent as a team in 1983.
REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD
The Pride has been the hottest team in the CAA of late, having only lost one match since Sept. 13. However, the loss was against conference rival University of Delaware, a backbreaking 3-0 defeat back on Sept. 29. The Pride will look to avenge the loss when the Blue Hens visit the Physical Fitness Center on Wednesday evening.
