RAMDOO DOUBLES UPFreshman Pemba Ramdoo was awarded her second CAA Rookie of the Week award of the season. Ramdoo had a goal and an assist in the two contests over the weekend.
RANK METhe Pride still finds itself in the national rankings, securing the No. 19 spot in the most recent 2004 STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The Pride matched the highest national ranking in school history last week, as it was ranked No. 18.
HEAVYWEIGHTSThe Colonial Athletic Association has an impressive three teams ranked in the top 20, and two others receiving votes. Old Dominion leads the way ranked No. 8, followed by Delaware, holding strong at No. 14. The Pride rounds out the CAA’s top 20 with its No. 19 ranking.
MIXING IT UPWith its’ recent game against Syracuse, the Pride has now played against an remarkable six different conferences while gearing up for conference play. The Pride is 1-0 against the Ivy League (Columbia), 1-0 against the Northeast Conference (Fairfield), 0-1 against the Big 10 (Michigan State), 0-1 against the Big East (Syracuse), 2-0 against the Atlantic 10 (Rhode Island and La Salle) and 2-1 against the Norpac (Cal, Pacific and Stanford.)
POOR ATTENDENCEAccording to recent CAA figures, the Pride finds itself with the lowest average attendanceNumbers in the conference, with an average of 103 fans. Leading the conference at this juncture is Delaware, with an average of 258 fans per game.
KEEP SHOOTINGThe Pride has four of the top seven players in the CAA in shots taken. Sophomore Kara McEneaney is second (37), senior Sara Gonzalez is fifth (23), freshman Ramdoo is sixth (22) and sophomore Doni-Melissa Jantzen is tied for seventh (20). However, the Pride only has two players in the top 13 in goals scored, with junior Alexandra Alonge and McEneaney in a six-way tie for eighth, with three goals.
