Bachelor Peter Weber and Madison Prewett called their relationship off on Thursday, March 12, after expressing love for each other during the “After the Final Rose” finale special of the reality TV show, “The Bachelor,” on Tuesday, March 10.
Both parties took to social media to announce the breakup. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us,” Weber wrote in an Instagram caption.
The cause for the split is unknown, but many assumptions are being made by Bachelor Nation. During the finale, Weber’s mother Barbara expressed her disapproval of Madison by saying, “Chris, he’s gonna have to fail to succeed.” This was a stab at Prewett, but Weber came to her defense by stating, “I’m telling you that I love Madison, and that should be enough.”
After recently ending his engagement with Hannah Ann Sluss, Weber appeared ready to face the controversy that would follow his decisions. Sluss made an appearance the night of the finale to confront Weber. She reiterated that he had stripped her of a precious moment in her life. She also called Weber out for not being a “real man.” Weber’s mother applauded as Sluss reprimanded her son. Additionally, Weber acknowledged the passionate words Sluss shared Tuesday night in his post by writing, “Hannah Ann, you set an example for women everywhere a couple nights ago. You are such a strong, confident woman and you deserve all the love in the world. I accept full responsibility for my mistakes in our relationship and wish you only the best.” Prior to this post it seemed that Weber was going to fight for his relationship with Prewett despite their many differences, as emphasized by his parents.
When asked by host Chris Harrison if they were willing to give the relationship a real shot, Weber responded by saying that they would take it one step at a time. The couple took steps, but in separate directions. Prewett also addressed the split by writing, “I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did.” Weber did not find the co-pilot he started the season searching for, but he did have one hell of a ride.
