On Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, Justin Bieber blessed all of his fans’ ears with his new album “Changes,” in which he gives listeners an intimate, erotic look at his new life as a married man to the beautiful Hailey Bieber. With this being Bieber’s fifth studio album, alongside his three compilation albums and Christmas album, he has sold over 150 million albums as of 2019. But this immense fame brought problems.
Justin Bieber has released his previous album, “Purpose” in 2015, meaning his two most recent albums had a five-year gap between their respective releases. Within these five years, Bieber wasn’t healthy. With his mental health deteriorating, he went into a downward spiral. He canceled the last fourteen dates of his “Purpose” tour, saying, “I want my mind, heart and soul to be sustainable.” Bieber admitted that he had let fame get the best of him and also opened up about his drug abuse and depression. His honesty led to fans speaking out, one writing “Mistakes were made but the truth is that you found your way back to a better place … I am proud to be a Belieber.” After taking a break from music, he publicized his relationship with his now-wife Hailey.
The newly married 25-year-old heartthrob has crushed the hearts of both old and new followers. Justin Bieber tied the knot with Hailey Baldwin-Bieber, signing the marriage license in a New York courthouse on Sept. 18, 2019. Then, twelve days later, they had a ceremony in a South Carolina hotel. This is where Hailey Bieber wore a beautiful one-of-a-kind, custom dress designed by Virgil Abloh for Off-White, the fashion house he founded in 2013. Justin Bieber’s marriage and talk of starting a family has shocked the world. But his new album shows us every emotion that he has toward the new Mrs. Bieber.
“Changes” contains 17 songs. Each song gives us a piece of Justin’s heart, and to make it more obvious that it is about his love towards his new wife, he released it on the day of love – Valentine’s Day. The song that has gained most of the fame off of the new album is “Yummy”. After being released as a single first, “Yummy” was picked up by the new video-streaming app TikTok. “Yummy” has been listened to over 3.1 million times, going viral just days post-release. So Justin, is your upcoming tour going to be as personal as your album was?
