1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Previous Rank: 1)
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers’ offense continued their dominance Sunday with a blowout 48-25 win. Brady and teammate Rob Gronkowski look like their prime selves when the defense is locked down. They will have their hardest task yet this week when they travel to LA to take on the 2-0 Rams.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (Previous Rank: 2)
The Chiefs did not get the outcome they wanted, but nonetheless played a great game. Patrick Mahomes and the passing attack was great, but they could not get the run game going. Tyrann Mathieu was able to get two early picks but after that the defense had no answer for QB Lamar Jackson. They plan to get back in the win column this week playing the Chargers on their home turf.
3. Los Angeles Rams (Previous Rank: 3)
The Rams pulled away with a 27-24 win against the Colts. Cooper Kupp had himself a huge game with 163 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The defense picked up two interceptions along with holding onto the lead at the end to seal the game. They face the defending champs in a juggernaut matchup this week.
4. Buffalo Bills (Previous Rank: 4)
Buffalo had a bounce back victory as their defense leads the way with six sacks, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Their win was aided by a big two sack game from first round rookie Greg Rousseau. The offense looked slightly better but still not at the same level it was last season at this time. QB Josh Allen’s slow start is part of the reason why. They will look to get things going on offense this week against Washington.
5. Green Bay Packers (Previous Rank: 7)
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense bounced back big against the Lions, starting with huge games from Aaron Jones and Davante Adams. The Packers defense was without star pass rusher Za’darius Smith, but managed to play much better holding the Lions to 17 points. They will take on the 49ers in a Sunday Night Football matchup this week.
6. Cleveland Browns (Previous Rank: 6)
The Browns were able to pull away with the win Sunday against a Tyrod Taylor-less Texans. The offense was led by their rushing game – RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt combined for 146 yards. The defense was great again, making for an overall solid win for the Browns. They look to make it two wins in a row against the Bears at home this week.
7. San Francisco 49ers (Previous Rank: 8)
Defense was the story of the game for the Niners, as they held QB Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense to just a measly 11 points. Led by Nick Bosa’s two sacks, Jimmy Garoppolo did enough offensively to secure a win. The Niners will look to make it three straight this week against the Packers at home.
8. Seattle Seahawks (Previous Rank: 5)
The Seahawks fell to the Titans in a close shootout Sunday. Russell Wilson and the offense did everything they could to keep them in the game which included him throwing for nearly 350 yards and two touchdowns. But the Seahawks defense had no answer for Derrick Henry and the Titans. He finished the game with an outstanding 182 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards and three touchdowns. They will look to redeem themselves this week at Minnesota.
9. Baltimore Ravens (Previous Rank: 12)
What a game! Lamar Jackson and the Ravens finally take down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, after three previous losses. Lamar started the game with two early picks but rebounded in a big way by putting the team on his back and finishing with an amazing 346 total yards and three touchdowns. They look to ride the momentum into this week’s matchup with the Lions.
10. Arizona Cardinals (Previous Rank: 10)
Another video game-like performance for Kyler Murray as he leads the Cardinals to their second straight win and continues his early MVP campaign. Murray ended the game with an immaculate 431 total yards and four total TDs. The Cardinals barely pulled away with the win after a missed Vikings field goal at the end of game. They will go for their third win in a row against the Jaguars this week.
11. Tennessee Titans (Previous Rank: 14)
Derrick Henry. That’s all that needs to be said after that historic performance. The Titans bounced back in a huge way this past Sunday – the offense was firing on all cylinders. Julio Jones had a huge game as well with 128 receiving yards. The defense and more importantly the secondary has big question marks remaining, but this was a great win for the Titans. They will look to continue this week against the Colts at home.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers (Previous Rank: 11)
The Steelers offense, once again, was not great against a subpar defense as well this week. They were making plays and putting up stats but could not score more than 17. The defense was not bad but not as good as last week against the Bills. They will look to get back in the win column against the Bengals this week at home.
13. Dallas Cowboys (Previous Rank: 15)
The Cowboys found a way to win, and did so in dramatic fashion with a Greg Zuerlein walk off field goal. RBs Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott were the main fuel for the offense and the Cowboys defense played well against the Herbert led offense, picking up two interceptions in the process. They will take on the Eagles in a Monday Night Football matchup this week.
14. New Orleans Saints (Previous Rank: 9)
The Saints looked the complete opposite from last week. The offense could not get anything going as QB Jameis Winston ended the game with an abysmal 111 passing yards and two interceptions. Meanwhile star RB Alvin Kamara ended the game with five rushing yards. The defense had no answer for Sam Darnold as he finished with a very respectable 305 passing yards and two TDs. They will look to get back in the win this week against the Patriots in Foxborough.
15. Las Vegas Raiders (Previous Rank: 23)
The Raiders, once again, pulled off beating a very strong Steelers defense. Derek Carr has looked the best he ever has so far. This time throwing for 382 yards and two touchdowns. The defense looked much better as well, coming off of a short week. They will look to make it three straight in anot
her tough matchup with Miami.
16. Indianapolis Colts (Previous Rank: 13)
The Colts played in a very back and forth game against the Rams this past weekend but unfortunately fell short. Carson Wentz has been anything but healthy and his status for week three is uncertain. On the bright side, Michael Pittman Jr. emerged as the team’s number one receiver and had a fantastic game. They will hope to gain their first win this weekend against the Titans.
17. New England Patriots (Previous Rank: 18)
The Patriots tore apart rookie QB Zach Wilson and the Jets, gaining four picks to go along with four sacks. The offense led by another rookie QB Mac Jones looked extremely solid. He showed us that he can distribute the ball to all of his targets and showed flashes of an elite playmaker. They have a difficult task with the Saints this week at home.
18. Carolina Panthers (Previous Rank: 25)
The Panthers played very well this weekend and completely embarrassed a playoff contending Saints team. Sam Darnold looks great in his first few starts with his new team. The Panther defense looks to wreak havoc out there on the field with two interceptions and very few allowed yards. They look to make it three in a row this week against a banged-up Texans team.
19. Washington Football Team (Previous Rank: 19)
The Taylor Heinicke led Football Team barely edged out the Giants, although Heinicke had himself a great game, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns. The defense did take a small step back by letting QB Daniel Jones run and pass all over them. They will have a huge task this week in Buffalo.
20. Denver Broncos (Previous Rank: 20)
Teddy Bridgewater had himself another great game as he led the Broncos to a 10-point victory over the Jaguars. Bridgewater threw for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns, all while the defense held number 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence to 118 yards and 2 picks. They seek to remain undefeated this week against the subpar Jets.
21. Los Angeles Chargers (Previous Rank: 16)
The Chargers kept it close and lost off of a last second field goal, but the offense continues to struggle. QB Justin Herbert had himself an overall decent game with 338 passing yards, a TD and two picks. The defense held its own against a high-powered Cowboys offense, but could not stop the run. They will look to get over .500 this week at Kansas City.
22. Miami Dolphins (Previous Rank: 17)
The Dolphins were without Tua Tagovailoa for the majority of the game, but that does not excuse the 35-0 blowout they endured this past Sunday in Buffalo. The Jacoby Brissett led offense had no answer for the Bills monster defense, which ultimately tied the defense down and led to 35 unanswered Bills points. They will look to put this behind them and hopefully get Tua back this week against the 2-0 Raiders.
23. Chicago Bears (Previous Rank: 24)
The Bears defense stepped up big time causing Bengals QB Joe Burrow to serve up three interceptions. Rookie QB Justin Fields was able to come in after Andy Dalton’s injury and do just enough for them to pull through with the victory. They will take on the Browns in Cleveland this week.
24. Philadelphia Eagles (Previous Rank: 22)
The Eagles offense was slowed down by Nick Bosa and the rest of the Niners defense this past Sunday. But the Eagles defense did step up in a huge way and kept the Niners offense to a respectable 17 points. They look to get their second win this season against the Cowboys.
25. Minnesota Vikings (Previous Rank: 21)
The Vikings were yet again so close to a victory but could not finish as they had a chance to win and missed the game winning field goal. Nonetheless they had superb offensive games from both Dalvin Cook and Kirk Cousins. But the defense was no match for Kyler Murray as he danced on them all afternoon. They will attempt to pick up win number one this week at home vs. the Seahawks.
26. Houston Texans (Previous Rank: 26)
The Texans were right in the game and looked like they were going to make it at least competitive. Then QB Tyrod Taylor went out with an injury and the Browns started to pull away. It looks like Tyrod is expected to miss some time, which would put Davis Mills in line for the start this week against the scorching hot Panthers.
27. New York Giants (Previous Rank: 29)
Daniel Jones had himself a game this Thursday with 344 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Unfortunately, the Giants defense was unable to stop Washington and they ended up losing on a last second field goal. It was a promising game for Giants fans. They will take on the Falcons at home this week.
28. Cincinnati Bengals (Previous Rank: 27)
Joe Burrow possibly had his worst game as a Bengal as they had no chance on the offensive side. The Bengals defense however kept the score close. They were able to slow down rookie QB Justin Fields and contain the score. They have the Steelers this week.
29. Detroit Lions (Previous Rank: 28)
The Lions kept it close with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the first half but once that second half whistle hit, it was over. They could not stop the trio of Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Davante Adams, which led to a blowout 35-17 Packers win. They will play the Ravens at home this week.
30. Atlanta Falcons (Previous Rank: 30)
The Falcons offense was keeping them in the game during the start, but towards the end of the game, their defense had no shot against the number one ranked offense in the NFL. They will try to salvage a win against the winless Giants on Sunday.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (Previous Rank: 32)
The Jaguars looked completely lost out there on both sides of the ball. There were glimpses of star potential from QB Trevor Lawrence but there is a long way to go before we reach that. They take on the Kyler Murray led Cardinals this Sunday.
32. New York Jets (P
revious Rank: 30)
Zach Wilson has ways to go before he can be a good NFL starter. This was a learning curve for the rookie as he fed the Patriots four interceptions. He and the rest of the Jets will take on the Broncos on the road next week.
