On April 19 at 1:50 p.m., a Resident Safety office manager reported to PS that an unknown person or persons had vandalized a bulletin board in Constitution Hall at some point between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17. An investigation was conducted and it was determined that the building had been vandalized by a Hofstra student. The student was issued a referral to OCS for vandalism.
On April 21 at 10:18 p.m., a fire alarm was activated in Alliance Hall. During a search of the building, it was discovered that a resident had failed to evacuate the building. The resident was evacuated and issued a referral to OCS for failing to comply.
On April 22 at 3:45 a.m., PS received a report that a fire alarm was activated in Enterprise Hall. During the check, the log panel indicated smoky conditions had activated the alarm. PS responded to the room and opened the door to a strong smell of marijuana. No marijuana was recovered. Empty bottles, cans of alcohol and vaping items were on a desk in open view. The two students inside the room were issued referrals to OCS for drug abuse violations and failure to evacuate during a fire alarm.
On April 22 at 7:56 p.m., an RA assigned to Estabrook Hall reported to PS that a resident’s non-student boyfriend, who had previously been banned from campus for trespassing, had signed into the student’s room at 4:17 a.m. and left at 9:40 a.m. PS responded to the student’s room and when questioned, the student became uncooperative and verbally abusive to the PS officer. The student was told not to allow her boyfriend to enter the building and was issued referrals to OCS for verbal abuse, the actions of the guest and failure to comply.
On April 24 at 2:27 p.m., a Hofstra faculty member reported to PS that between 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, an unknown person entered her office in Hagedorn Hall and stole 10 textbooks. Each book was valued between $60 and $120. Police assistance was declined at this time. An investigation is being conducted into the matter.
