On April 28 at 12:30 a.m., PS received a report that there was an unidentified male found by a Hofstra custodian inside the bathroom at Au Bon Pain. PS responded and confronted the individual, who could give no reason for being on campus. The individual was identified as a non-student. He was then escorted to the Hofstra information center, where he was banned from campus for trespassing.
On April 29, a student reported to PS that at some time between 8 p.m. on April 28 and 4 p.m. on April 29, he parked his vehicle on the Colonial Square roadway between the athletic field and the baseball stadium. Upon returning to his vehicle, he discovered that it had been ransacked. His MacBook, valued at approximately $2,000, and a blue Disney bag were taken from the backseat of the car. He further stated that he may have left the vehicle unlocked and there was no evidence of forced entry. A report was filed with the NCPD.
On April 30, a student that reported to PS that sometime between 5 p.m. on April 28 and 12 p.m. on April 29, she parked her vehicle in parking field seven, which is adjacent to Estabrook Hall and the intramural fields. When she returned, she discovered that the door to her vehicle was unlocked, the glove compartment was ransacked and her Canon DSLR camera was taken. NCPD was notified, responded and prepared a report of the theft.
On April 30 at 11:20 p.m., PS received a report that there was an odor of marijuana coming from the second floor of Tilberg House. PS responded and when they entered the room, they found that there was a strong odor of marijuana inside. The resident was questioned and admitted that she had been smoking marijuana in the room. There was no marijuana recovered. The student was issued a referral to OCS.
On May 1 at 3:27 p.m., a fire alarm was activated in Enterprise Hall. PS responded and the alarm indicated that it had been activated by a specific room in the building. PS keyed in and found a heavy smoke of orange scent. Vaping equipment was found in open view on the desk, as well as a resident with a male guest. Both the resident and the guest were issued a referral to OCS for failing to comply by vaping in the room and failing to evacuate when a fire alarm was activated. There was no damage to Hofstra property.
