The Hofstra men’s basketball team looks to continue their dominance this season as they take on Middle Tennessee State University in the first of three games at the 2022 Northern Classic, in Laval, Quebec, Canada. Tip-off is later tonight, Friday, Nov. 25th, at 7 pm.
The Pride are coming off a rough 76-48 loss to Saint Mary’s College following a 4-0 start, marking their best since 2004. Prior to the St. Mary matchup, the Pride put up over 80 points in their previous 4 games. In their most recent game, the offense collectively struggled, especially with 3-point shooting. The Pride went 1-for-16 from three as well as tacking on 16 turnovers in the process. Another area where they lacked in was rebounding as they were outrebounded 15-4 on the offensive end. The 15 offensive rebounds led to 18 second chance points from Saint Mary’s, which proved to be a giant factor in the loss.
In terms of players, Aaron Estrada has picked up right where he left off last season, averaging over 25 points per game with the exception of the St. Mary’s game. He has been a huge part of Hofstra’s offense thus far, as not only their leading scorer, but also a huge playmaker for their offense
On the other side of the court, Middle Tennessee sits at 2-2 on the year, as they were defeated by Missouri State University 75-51. Their offense shot at a low 34% (16-for-47) from the field. It’s safe to say that both teams are coming off of blowout losses where they shot the ball poorly, and look to return back to their former offensive selves.
There will be an audio broadcast of the game on WRHU.ORG via the HAWC. Both GoHofstra.com and GoBlueRaiders.com will have links to view/listen to the game, as well as up-to-date live stats.
