After weeks of anticipation, former Hofstra University guard Aaron Estrada has finally found his new home at the University of Alabama as he announced on his personal Instagram and Twitter accounts. After stops at Saint Peter’s University and the University of Oregon, Estrada blossomed into a superstar at Hofstra, totaling over 1,000 points and averaging over 20 points per game during his two seasons with the Pride. Hofstra accumulated a 46-21 record throughout Estrada’s tenure in Hempstead and earned a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Regular Season Championship during his final season in 2023.
After winning conference Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons, Estrada joins the wave of former CAA stars flocking to high-major schools through the transfer portal. Estrada’s decision to join the Crimson Tide comes just after CAA rival University of Delaware star Jameer Nelson Jr. transferred to Texas Christian University and Towson University standout Nicholas Timberlake chose to join the University of Kansas.
The Crimson Tide has an illustrious history of producing NBA-caliber guards. This year alone, starting guards Jahvon Quinerly and Marcus Sears have already declared for the NBA draft in June. Estrada will also fill a hole in the guard for the Tide, as former top recruits Nimari Burnett and Jaden Bradley have both entered the transfer portal in recent weeks.
As Hofstra continues to earn a reputation as one of the nation’s premier mid-major programs, Estrada exits Hempstead as one of the most decorated players in program history and now moves on to play for a national title with one of college basketball’s most dominant programs.
