Hofstra bounced right back from a rough loss against the college of William & Mary with a blowout win against Elon University, picking up its third conference win by the score of 102-75 on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
Desure Buie exploded for a career-best 44 points on an incredibly efficient night where he went 15-of-19 from the field, including knocking down six threes in eight attempts. Buie was perfect from the charity stripe hitting all eight of his attempts and also added five rebounds and three assists for the Pride. His point total came just four shy of the Hofstra record set in 2019 by Justin Wright-Foreman, settling into fifth place on Hofstra’s single-game best scoring efforts.
Buie was the shining star for a Hofstra offense that hit a season high 64.8 percent of its shots, including connecting on 50 percent from three-point range. Isaac Kante, Omar Silverio and Jalen Ray each reached double figures as well, with 19, 13 and 10 respectively. Kante also grabbed a game high eight rebounds off the glass.
Although the Pride finished the game on the right side of a blowout, it was the Phoenix who jumped out to an early lead to begin the game. Elon held a 13-4 lead within the first three minutes of the game only to be matched by Hofstra with the same exact run which tied the game at 17. From there, with 10 minutes left to go in the half, Hofstra set sail and didn’t look back as they went into the halftime break with a 14-point lead that only grew larger as more game was played.
Marcus Sheffield and Zac Ervin each had 17 for the Phoenix who shot 43 percent from the field en route to their third conference loss of the season. Elon has yet to pick up a win in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, and sit at a 4-12 overall record.
Hofstra, now 12-5 in overall and 3-1 in CAA play, will look to carry the momentum from this dominant performance into its upcoming games, first of which will take place on the road against Northeastern University in a nationally televised game (CBS Sports).
Tip-off against the Huskies is set for 8 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 9 in Boston, Massachusetts.

These jerseys are instantly thrown into the G.O.A.T. sports jersey conversation. The yellow pants not only add in many different uniform combinations, but they truly give a classic feel. I thought the Chargers were a bunch of bafoons for not signing free agent Cam Newton, but these uniforms designs prove I was absolutely wrong! I would have never noticed the missing Chargers woodmark without you mentioning it. For that, I cannot give these perfect uniforms a 10.

Since were not roasting the Chargers, we can still roast Baker Mayfield because even with all these uniform combinations he has still has more commercials than the Chargers have uniforms!
