The Hofstra Pride field hockey team dropped its fourth consecutive contest on the road against the University of Maine, on Friday, Sept. 9, at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex in a non-conference tilt. With the loss, the Pride now sit at 1-4 in the early going of the season.
It was a defensive slugfest throughout the afternoon, with both teams struggling to get their offense going in the right direction. Hofstra’s best shot of the game came with 5:23 left to go in the third period, as a hard shot by Jamie Mc Millan off the Hofstra penalty corner narrowly passed the goalkeeper, but Maine’s Mia Borley snatched the ball up for the save.
The fourth quarter was much more of the same as Hofstra once again managed to put up multiple shots on goal without any reaching the back of the net.
