‘Wuthering Heights’ fails as an adaptation

Carmen Pope, Staff Writer February 25, 2026
Over the weekend, I went to an early showing of Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights.” The film received plenty of attention, gaining mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike. It has a 59% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes’ “Tomatometer” and 2.9 stars out of five rating on Letterboxd. Although, the soundtrack by Charli xcx was widely liked, the only thing everyone has seemingly agreed upon is that the movie was a terribly horrific adaptation of the book.

‘Marriage of Figaro’ reimagined

Katelyn Buchalter, Assistant News Editor February 11, 2026

The lights dimmed as the curtain rose to reveal the cluttered setting of a hotel casino set in Las Vegas. After weeks of preparation, the well-rehearsed cast of “The Marriage of Figaro”...

‘Rocky Horror:’ a staple of queer empowerment

Meredith Tarsi, Copy Chief November 12, 2025
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” experience is a Halloween-time tradition that transcends the holiday it has been attached to. Since the 1975 film rose to its status as a cult classic, shadow-casted performances – a showing of the film with a cast of actors who (often wordlessly) perform the events of the film in front of the screen – have become tradition across the United States and even internationally.

‘Mystery Incorporated:’ the best of ‘Scooby-Doo’

Paige Sanacora, Arts & Entertainment Editor October 29, 2025
In September, the “Scooby-Doo” franchise celebrated its 56th anniversary. Spanning 48 films, 14 animated television series, comics, video games and more, the franchise has been a focal point of children’s media since the original show “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” first aired in 1969. With few exceptions, most entries into the “Scooby-Doo” franchise focus on the gang solving stand-alone mysteries featuring bad guys in masks, rather than actual supernatural entities, with no overarching plot between episodes and movies. In 2010, Warner Bros. Animation took a notable digression from this historically successful path in the fan-favorite “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.”

Daredevil is born again in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Eric Leaf, Staff Writer April 23, 2025
Seven years after Netflix pulled the plug on the original “Daredevil” series, “Daredevil: Born Again” marks the long-awaited return of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.  Although officially labeled as a “Season 1,” this revival functions more like a spiritual fourth season, continuing the gritty legacy fans have held onto since its abrupt cancellation. This might be Marvel Studios' most brutal outing yet, delivering intense violence alongside compelling narratives of loss, abandonment and inner conflict. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio slip seamlessly back into their iconic roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, commanding every scene they’re in. At its best, this season reaches the heights of the original run, giving longtime fans the payoff they’ve been waiting for. Still, it’s not without flaws. Its biggest struggle is a clear identity crisis over whether to embrace the past three seasons or leave them behind entirely.

‘The Last of Us’ season 2 is off to a controversial start

Paige Sanacora, Arts and Entertainment Editor April 23, 2025
One of Max’s most popular shows since it’s launch back in 2020 has been “The Last of Us,” an adaptation of the post-apocalyptic video game of the same name. The series follows protagonists Joel and Ellie, as they travel across a United States that has been overrun by fungal-infected people for the past 20 years. I am fairly new to the “The Last of Us” fandom, having only watched the show and played the games for the first time this January. Despite this, “The Last of Us” has utterly consumed my life. The first episode of season two premiered on Sunday, April 13, and fans of both the show and the video games have a lot of opinions on the direction the series is taking.

‘Severance’ season two is worth the wait

Peter Massarrone, Staff Writer April 23, 2025
The three-year wait for “Severance” season two was worth every minute. Releasing on Apple TV weekly since Jan. 2025, the show sparked critical acclaim during its first season for its mystery, acting and bland but intriguing world. The series has now become a staple of American television, up there with other great science fiction shows like “Black Mirror” and “Stranger Things.”
