Madeline Myslow is a first-year public relations major from Simsbury, Connecticut with a passion for fashion and big plans for the future. After graduating, she hopes to bring her minimalist-chic style to Manhattan and break into the fashion industry as either a celebrity stylist or a magazine editor. She loves Vogue and InStyle but her favorite publication is People Style Watch because, “It’s the most practical! My favorite spread is their ‘Everything Old is New Again’ page because I’m constantly inspired by vintage couture and I love seeing how the trends continue to resurface.” Madeline cites fashion designers such as Chanel, Dior, Prada, and Givenchy as being some of her favorites. She adds to this list saying, “I always find myself drooling over Elie Saab dresses. His runway shows are incredible.” When it comes to day-to-day wear you can find her sporting outfits from Topshop, Madewell, Urban Outfitters, and Zara, to name a few.
When asked about some of her favorite go-to pieces Madeline replied, “My favorites are my black suede fringe jacket because it’s a perfect transition piece for fall; all of my pairs of black platform shoes because I have an obsession; and my fancy gold collar necklace that I’m wearing right now. It makes every outfit seem so much fancier.” However, it is her round Ray Ban sunnies and Madewell Glasgow bag that you will never see her walking around campus without. If like Madeline, you are into simple and chic with a splash of funky (and who isn’t?) definitely check out her blog, greensleevs.tumblr.com. She takes a lot of inspiration for her blog from high fashion magazines and street style photography. You can also see celebrity style influences such as Kendall Jenner and Alexa Chung represented in her blog. In high school, she was voted Best Dressed by her senior class and she wants to continue to live up to this title here at Hofstra. To this end, Madeline said, “I have never worn sweatpants out of the house and I never plan to!”
