The summer heat is starting to disappear and that usually means one thing – it’s time to go back to school. When the beach towels get packed away and the textbooks come out, it’s usually time for some back-to-school shopping. Here are a few ways to stay on budget so that you don’t break the bank as a new school year begins.
School Supplies: Most office supply stores like Staples or Office Max have sales where you can load up on new notebooks, folders, pencils and anything else you might need at lower prices than during the year. Make sure to check out stores like Target and Walmart. Target has notebooks and other supplies for four dollars, and if you shop online, orders over $25 have free shipping.
Clothes: Stores like Kohl’s have huge back-to-school sales every year, and sometimes have promotions when you spend $30 or more, $10 come off of your total. Keep an eye out for coupons in advertisements and online for your favorite stores as well.
Tech: If you’re looking for a TV for your dorm or your laptop is nearing the end if its lifespan and you need a replacement, now could be a good time to get a new one. Apple has up to $200 off of certain laptops and sometimes headphones are sold with them as a package deal. Best Buy also has deals on electronics. And if you have Amazon Student, take advantage of the free two-day shipping and search for whatever technology you need.
Dorm: Not everyone goes away to college, but those who do need a lot of supplies for their home away from home. Target is a great place to find storage, with certain carts and organizing cubes for only 10 dollars. Bed Bath and Beyond is another great place to find almost anything you need for a dorm, from bedding to bathroom supplies. If you live in an apartment or a house, they also have kitchen appliances that aren’t too expensive.
There are a lot of ways to save money when you’re heading back to school. To keep track, make a list of what you need and where to find it. Compare prices and decide what will save you the most money in the long run, and make the most of the deals offered. Happy shopping!
